AI Security: Turning Complexity into Cohesion
AI Security: Turning Complexity into Cohesion
At Vodafone, technology and security go hand in hand. What started as a telecommunications company 40 years ago has evolved into a tech leader delivering IoT, TV, and digital services across Europe and Africa. With this transformation, cybersecurity remains a top priority, ensuring that every product/ solution is secured from the design phase.
Artificial Intelligence is no longer just a buzzword—it’s a core driver of Vodafone’s growth and efficiency. From NLP-powered chatbots to predictive cyber-attack detection and dynamic network resource allocation, AI is embedded in our operations. But with great power comes great responsibility. AI introduces risks beyond security—such as transparency, misinformation, and ethical concerns—that can impact millions of lives.
To address this, Vodafone's approach to secure the use of AI is through the definition of a tailor-made AI Security Governance Framework, built based on global standards and aligned with regulations like the EU AI Act. Out of these global standards and Regulations we selected the controls that are applicable for our own use cases. The framework is comprised from 51 controls from 11 focus areas ensuring every AI project meets strict security and compliance requirements before deployment. Our approach guarantees responsible innovation that protects our customers, our organization, and society.
Recently, I had the opportunity to present on this topic at Voxxed Days Thessaloniki 2025. If you’d like to see the full talk and get the complete picture of Vodafone’s AI Security approach, you can watch it here.
AI is transforming the world, but it must be secured, governed, and trusted. At Vodafone, we’re committed to making that happen.
